Dear Professor Garreis,

Thank you for your reply and corrections of my English.

I will answer your last questions.

Homework

1.A. Send me the URL and name of a Japanese firm that is an Internet service provider, or sells routers, or sells software.

→ Yes, I chose "NEC Big Robe Co, Ltd." The URL is as follows.

http://www.biglobe.co.jp/

Thank you.  I like their web site!

1.B. Send me the URL and name of a Japanese CPA firm.

→ Yes, I chose "auditor Tohmatsu". The URL is as follows.

http://www.tohmatsu.co.jp/

English version is as follows.

http://www.deloitte.com/dtt/home/0%2C1044%2Csid%25253D34117%2C00.html

Thank you. Deloitte Tohmatsu is famous in the US, too.

It was interesting to read about tax reform proposals.  Do you think the consumption tax will increase in 2009? The report that I read is at: http://www.deloitte.com/dtt/newsletter/0,1012,cid=180631.html

2. Name at least two ways that technology will affect your future.

  → First is energy-saving technology.

A global environment will be a big problem for humans.

I paid attention to "ECO CUTE".
It is a refueling system.

It collects atmosphric heat to make hot water.
It can largely cut carbon dioxide.

That would a wonderful thing!

I looked at the web site, http://www.r744.com/.

It is impressive to me.  It would be great if we use the carbon dioxide by-product gas to heat and cool our homes, cars and maybe some stores.

Do you know anyone with an ECO CUTE heat pump?

Next is health care machinery.
Japan is called a world's best longevity country, and the burden of the medical cost becomes big, too.
I paid attention to "monitoring your health". This is called MYH.
This is a body composition gauge for families.
This reads the data of the body from body composition and blood pressure and makes the degree of the health a graph.

Japan is well-known for people who live very long, healthy lives.

Medical costs will be a big burden in many countries in the years ahead.

In the US there are many expensive drugs and procedures to diagnose and treat illnesses.

Many people here worry that they cannot afford to pay for the drugs and procedures in the future.

Health care is another hard issue that Mr. Obama must address.

3. A podcast is a form of audio broadcasting over the Internet.
Music, lessons, or commentary are sent to a large group of listeners.
Have you ever heard a podcast?
If yes, what was it about?
Do any of your professors use podcasts in their courses?

→ I have not heard the Podcast.
But I want to enjoy music or a video in iPhd and iPhone sometime.
Apple Corporation's technology for music surprises me every time.

Thank you for your thoughtful response to the question about technology in your future.

4. What technology would you like to see used in your courses?

I would like to see used electronic paper by the information and communication technology.
I think that is very convenient in the cases that I want to summarize that wants to treat various documents and an enormous document in thereby.
I think the electronic paper to have possibilities to make use in compiling the financing information of the company in accounts.

I am not sure what you mean, Michi. Sumi massen.

I'm waiting for your reply.

Sincerely, yours

Michi
